Twenty young actors from the Segal Centre for Performing Arts will hit the stage on June 18 to perform their new musical comedy We Are Monsters, a tale where kids learn there is more than meets the eye after befriending quirky monsters like vampires and werewolves.
The young performers, age 7-10, will debut their play at 10 a.m. and then perform again at noon at the Segal Centre’s Studio. The performance comes after months of hard work as part of the Academy’s Broadway Stars program, which teaches performing arts to children aged 7-12. The classes are taught by trained professionals and include vocal lessons, choreography, acting workshops and more. Taught in two sessions during the fall and winter seasons, the program also teaches students the ins-and-outs of theatre production.
The Segal Centre will also offer matinée shows on June 16 for a variety of schools across Montreal, and on June 18 for friends and family. Admission costs $15 for children under the age of 12 and $20 for adults. For more information, visit the website.
