World class roller coaster opens in Toronto

If your child loves roller coasters, Toronto has something new that is sure to please even the biggest and bravest thrill seekers. Billed as the longest, fastest and highest roller coaster of its type, the Yukon Striker opened in May at Canada’s Wonderland.

This ride is known as a “dive” roller coaster as it has a straight vertical drop. Riders are lifted up a track and then dangle for a few seconds before plunging down a 90 degree, 75-metre drop into a hole at 130 km/h. Passengers go through an underwater tunnel before going back uphill into a series of four inverted twists and turns.

The ride has three trains that carry eight riders across in three rows and lasts three minutes and 25 seconds. The launch of Yukon Striker coincides with the opening of Frontier Canada, a gold rush-themed attraction area in Canada’s Wonderland, which is approximately 35 kilometres north of Toronto.
