When the snowflakes fly, it’s time to head for the hills! Snow tubing is a great way to get your fill of the great outdoors and can be enjoyed by all ages — no skills or balance required. This winter, experience the thrill of tubing in a safe and family-friendly atmosphere at Super Glissades Matha, about 90 minutes northeast of Montreal.
Tubing for all ages
The family slope offers 14 lanes of different elevations, and don’t worry about having to trudge back up pulling your tube as six lifts will whisk them up to the top. Minimal wait times will make sure that you can slide down again and again, and lit slopes will keep the fun going into the evening.

If you’re looking for an electrifying experience, the “Adrenaline” slope will have you hurtling down nine tracks of different routes and elevations. Choose from the Cyclone, TGV, or Raft that holds from 4 to 12 people. Speeds of more than 100km/h are possible when the conditions are ideal. The minimum height for the Adrenaline tracks is 1.25 metres (4’10”).

Stay to play
Those wishing for something a little tamer can opt to travel the more than 40 kilometres of cross-country ski trails that traverse open areas, forests, and gentle slopes. All of the seven trails are mechanically groomed and you can practice classic or skate style. Two roughly-traced routes are also available for beginners and intermediate snowshoers. Equipment rental is available on-site.
The youngest visitors are invited to jump, climb, and slide at Le Mini Monde de Lilou. Children up to the age of 10 can play on inflatables (that include a Frozen-themed one of course), ride on swings, and spin in the “crazy helicopter” carousel. Benches and wood fires will keep parents comfortable while the little ones play.
To recharge, try the cafeteria, the “quickie” with fast foods, or there’s even fine dining available at Le Bistro Matha. Want to bring your own lunch? You can do that too and eat in one of the warm buildings.
