Along with dozens of local and international comedy acts, the Just for Laughs Festival will be holding a slew of free outdoor activities at Place des festivals, many geared to kids.
The majority of family-oriented activities will take place from July 16 to 30 during the Place de la famille le Lait. Playing on a beach theme, kids can enjoy different games like mechanical surfing, a pirate ship ride and a fun house with distorted mirrors and moving stairs. These activities begin at 1 p.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. on weekends.
From July 22-24, the Titanick entertainment group will put on a pyrotechnic performance. For the music buffs, there will be a free performance by local children’s musicians Les petites tounes on July 24 at 7 p.m., and choir performances on July 21 during Jardins des chorales.
The hugely popular Twins Parade will be taking place on Saturday, July 23. Every year since 1998, sets of twins and triplets from across the globe make their way to Montreal to take part in the event.
Participants can get creative and dress up in order to win prizes during the costume contests. Dubbed the JumOlympiques, these siblings will compete in different olympic-inspired games and sports. The parade begins at 4 p.m. at the corner of Jeanne-Mance St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd., and makes its way towards Ste. Catherine St. finishing back at Place des Festivals.
