The Harold Grinspoon Foundation, a Massachusetts-based organization focused on developing and enhancing Jewish life and community, has partnered with the CJA Federation (Combined Jewish Appeal) and other local foundations to bring the PJ Library program to Montreal.

It offers families raising Jewish children ages 6 months to 8 years old the opportunity to develop and strengthen their identities by providing them with free, high-quality Jewish books and music each month.

Children will get an age-appropriate book or CD delivered to their homes to help them and their parents explore Jewish traditions, values and heritage.

The collection includes material chosen by early-childhood educators and children’s literature experts. The list of Passover-related books available this year include: Where is the Afikomen?, Sammy Spider’s First Passover and Let My People Go!

Other books that are available include Mrs. Moskowitz and the Sabbath Candlesticks, The Castle on Hester Street and The Always Prayer Shawl.

The PJ Library serves 1,865 children in Montreal and with the help of the Genesis Philanthropy Group, children of Russian-speaking Jewish families can also take part in the program.

Families living in Montreal and surrounding areas such as the West Island, Laval, South Shore and the Laurentians are welcome to register.
