With its concert venues at Place des Arts and Tanna Schulich Hall shuttered indefinitely, Bach Before Bedtime (BBB) is keeping the annual holiday tradition of The Nutcracker alive through a special virtual concert experience.

With a new 30-minute digital production, children and families can enjoy the uplifting magic of Tchaikovsky’s timeless classic in the safety and comfort of home; again and again! Young music-lovers will experience the wonder of Clara and the Nutcracker Prince through dance, animation, bilingual narration, and a string quartet of Montreal’s premiere classical musicians.

“We’re bringing The Nutcracker to everyone this year,” said Dorothy Fieldman Fraiberg, BBB artistic director and founder of the Allegra Foundation. “In our live concerts, they’re always interactive, so what we’ve done with this (digital version) is we’ve made interactive parts with singing, movement, and conducting. Kids love The Nutcracker and this makes a fabulous gift for Christmas or Hanukkah and they will have it forever.”

With all of its live concerts on hold, BBB is also planning another virtual production for February, so check out their social media for updates.
