Les Grands Ballets Canadiens will stage the classic Christmas ballet The Nutcracker at Place des Arts starting Thursday, Dec. 13, 2013.
The story centers on Clara, whose godfather presents her with a magic nutcracker for Christmas, which turns into a prince. The prince then battles the Rat King and leads Clara to the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets.
It features more than 100 dancers, including many children who auditioned for roles as mice, rats, angels, reindeer, etc. The show will run on various dates and times until Dec. 30.
