Across cultures and throughout time, butterflies have been symbols of rebirth and beauty. On Feb. 18, the Botanical Gardens’ greenhouse will be filled with butterflies flying freely as the annual exhibit opens to the public.
Thousands of butterflies from around the world, some in the middle of their metamorphosis, will be housed in an environment where humans and insects can safely mingle. The variety of colours, patterns, shapes, and textures of butterflies, moths and chrysalis (the stage when certain bugs are going through a transformation) provide a peek into their kaleidoscopic world. Butterflies Go Free runs until April 24.
