Support group for parents of teens with addictions

Chabad Lifeline is offering a new support group geared towards parents of teenagers who are struggling with addiction, including substance, eating and behavioural addictions as well as tech and gaming addictions.

This organization offers support groups and individual or group therapy for both substance-based and behavioural addictions.

During this weekly group meeting, participants will learn about addiction, how to set boundaries, and develop communication skills, as well as how to process emotions.

Parents may be interested in joining this group if their child is directly engaging in destructive or addictive behaviours, not doing well at school, no longer spending time with friends or family or showing dramatic changes in behaviour. Family members can call the organization for an assessment to determine if they are the right fit for this group or if they are concerned that their child is dealing with an addiction.

The group meets Mondays from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thanks to an anonymous donor, it is being offered free of charge. Call 514-738-7700 to reserve a place and schedule an evaluation.
