This summer, young sports aficionados will have the opportunity to live out their dreams of being a professional athlete at a new sleepaway camp.
Beginning in July, SportLife day camp will be hosting an overnight program at the Y Country Camp in the Laurentians. The day camp, now in its sixth year, allows kids to experience the life cycle of a professional athlete by taking part in practices, games, trade deadlines, player interviews and an awards ceremony.
SportLife at YCC Sleepaway Camp is geared towards kids between the ages of 9 and 15. Along with traditional camp activities like swimming, cookouts, rock climbing, and beach parties, each week will focus on the intricacies of a different sport — flag football and ball hockey, respectively.
“There are limited sleepaway options for kids looking to have the ultimate sports experience, so we decided to collaborate with YCC and give them the best of both worlds,” says Evan Horner, camp director and owner.
The first session is from July 22 to 26 with the second taking place the following week.
