Splash pad features beach-themed fun

The whole space at Saint-Damase Park in the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension is like an ode to summer. Everything about this park seems to say “Come. Have fun. Stay awhile!”

The fantastic playgrounds are filled with unique equipment for kids of all ages: the large tables invite family and friends to share an outdoor meal together, the outdoor fitness equipment is great for warm weather training, and the grassed areas are perfect for lounging. All the makings of a great community space.

The central splash pad by Canadian company Waterplay is playful, colourful, and filled with interactive and exhilarating products. Tall umbrellas spray water from their tops, large beach balls are fun to drape across while enjoying their refreshing spray, surfboards shoot out steady streams, and a double water cannon means you can tag-team while spraying friends. Or, your unsuspecting parents of course.

For those brave enough to stand under the tall beach ball and wait for it to tip, they’ll be rewarded with a huge cascade of water. Watch it fill back up, start a countdown, and do it all over again!

While my two kids had been pretty grumpy about even getting into the water, they didn’t want to get out once it was time to leave.

“We’re staying in here FOREVER!”

  • While the splash pad is in full sun, there is some shade around the perimeter of the park.
  • A drinking fountain is located at the entrance to the park.
