There are dozens of services and programs available for children and adults with special needs; often the difficult part for parents is finding them. That may be a bit easier thanks to a free information fair being hosted on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 by an organization called WIAIH, which helps people with intellectual handicaps or autism.
Parents are invited to come and meet professionals and discover different services that are available for children and adults with special needs such as autism, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
More than 40 exhibitors will be present such as specialized schools, RDI consultants, rehabilitation centres, recreational programs, etc. Representatives from the Special Olympics, Discovery Toys, Lakeshore Soccer Club, Avatil and others will be on hand to answer questions and provide information.
The event will be held at the Pierrefonds Cultural Centre from noon to 8 p.m. The address is 13850 Gouin Blvd., W. Admission is free.
