Teens with a passion for singing and songwriting can perform for an audience at the second annual Teen Songwriting Competition on June 23, 2012.
Sponsored by Acoustic Nights Montreal, a local organization promoting local singer-songwriters and artists, the bilingual competition is open to teens ages 13 to 17, who will participate in a workshop on June 9 to help them hone their writing and performing skills. Then, on June 23, the top 10 contestants from that workshop will play for a panel of judges with a chance to win prizes including 12 hours in a professional recording studio, free music lessons and the opportunity to open for a band at the Acoustic Nights Montreal gala in September.
Registration costs $20 and is open until June 1. Contestants will have to send in a Youtube video of their song, a copy of their lyrics and a photo.
