SHARKX camp offering new activities
After six years in N.D.G., SHARKX is packing up and moving its sports day camp to the neighbouring town of Montreal West this summer. The new location at a large church in Montreal-West allows the camp to offer more courses, such as martial arts, handball, and magic.
With the SHARKX multi-sports program, every day is something new. Campers ages 6-14 will participate in sports activities such as basketball, soccer, gymnastics, hip hop dance, martial arts, and more. All of the sports are taught by experienced bilingual instructors and are held mainly outdoors. The camp will also provide workshops such as science, beat boxing, reptiles, Nerf battles, and a fishing trip to Écopêche in Mont-Saint-Grégoire.
Safety a priority
Camp Director Larry Williams says he knows that campers’ health and safety is paramount and has experience with protocols from last year. “Despite the unknown situation surrounding the pandemic, we opened our camp last summer,” he said. “We successfully offered a safe, secure environment for the kids and had zero Covid-19 cases reported.”
Williams says he believes that it is important for the kids to stay active, play sports, be social and make friends. “It’s good for their mental state,” he said. “It’s why we believe it’s important for us to run our SHARKX sports day camp for kids during these times, especially since the kids didn’t have an opportunity to play sports or [participate in] activities during the school year. We are looking forward to offering another successful sports day camp and secure environment for the kids this summer.”
Registration is open now
The week-long camps are available from June 28 until August 20, 2021 and cost $290 per week.
