Segal Centre initiative gets kids moving
Do you have a child at home with boundless energy and who loves to dance? Keep them active this winter with The Segal Centre’s new online initiative Hoppin’ and Poppin’ with Hailey and Patrick.
Offered three times a week, the free 15-minute virtual dance parties will get kids moving and grooving. Two energetic hosts — Hailey Lewis, an accomplished dancer from Burlington Ontario, and Patrick Park, a Montreal-based performer, drama teacher, and choreographer — guide children through a series of engaging activities. Kids have the opportunity to express themselves creatively, move along with the music, and let out all their wiggles.
“Being a parent during the pandemic has had its challenges,” said Liana Wiener, Segal Centre Academy Director. “We created an activity that could give parents a break and be super engaging for their children. It is a chance for kids to use their imaginations while being active. We are so excited to have Hailey and Patrick on board. With them at the helm, we know children will look forward to every single adventure they will go on together.”
While the dance party is recommended for children between the ages of 2 and 5, the whole family can benefit from getting up and moving at the end of the school or workday.
So clear some space in the living room, grab a water bottle, and get dancing!
