Rudolph Steiner expands its preschool
The Rudolf Steiner School in N.D.G. is opening a second preschool class for 3-year-olds, who will be able to attend five mornings a week. There will also be a daycare service offered from noon until 5 p.m. This school uses the “Waldorf” method, developed by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner.
In an effort to help children feel connected to the world, they use only natural materials and fibres, such as wool, silk, beeswax and natural objects.
“We want to connect them to warmth, texture and colour to surround them with the feeling that there is goodness in the world,” says Francine LaTerreur, the school’s administrator. The children also learn how to bake bread, make models, paint, play music, act and share with their peers.
The school is housed in the former Fraser-Hickson Library at 4855 Kensington Ave., in N.D.G. For more information, call (514) 481-5686 or visit www.ersm.org
