Rock climbing camp offers adventurous activities

A new day camp geared to kids 8-13 is being launched at Allez Up climbing gym in Pointe St. Charles.  While focused on climbing, the camp will also include a wide range of sports like parkour, gymnastics, slackline and more.

According to co-owner Geneviève de la Plante, climbing offers kids a fun activity that stimulates both mind and body and helps develop a sense of autonomy. Climbing also provides measurable results that make it easy for kids to reach their goals with clear objectives, she says.  “Kids love the challenge that comes with climbing,” de la Plante says. “They are really proud when they reach new heights.”

Campers will get four hours of climbing or climbing-related activities every day in the gym’s large facilities, which include outdoor and indoor walls. They will also get to participate in a variety of other activities like swimming and soccer.

The camp is for anyone interested in climbing, whether for leisure, fitness, or competition. No prior experience is necessary. Allez Up also offers competitive programs in the fall season, as well as recreational opportunities.

Its state-of-the-art facilities include bouldering walls, a wide variety of climbing routes, and even outdoor routes on silos. Experienced instructors supervise small groups of up to six kids, and make sure to teach proper safety procedures and how to handle the climbing equipment.

Start dates are July 2, July 9, July 16, and July 23. Cost is $300 plus tax.
