Quebec farms welcome families

On Sunday, September 8, farms across Quebec invite the public to the annual open house day sponsored by the Union des Producteurs Agricoles du Quebec. With more than 100 farms participating, families won’t have to search too far for a peek into farming life. There will be demonstrations, games, activities, free samples and tours. Depending on the area, farms might focus on livestock, alpacas or organic produce.

If you would like the farm experience but don’t feel like heading out of town, the Olympic Park will be hosting a variety of educational activities that will teach families how to shear a sheep, milk a cow, and learn the ins and outs of milk production. Members of the Union des Producteurs Agricoles will test your knowledge on local Quebec products and agriculture.

Younger kids can take in a magic show between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be plenty of food on site for purchase, including local and seasonal food, such as corn, maple syrup, fruits, vegetables, eggs, etc.

Activities begin at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Admission is free.
