Program prepares kids for high school

Prep For High School helps students with the transition from Grade 6 to Grade 7

As a high school teacher at Sacred Heart School, Michelle Lessey knows the jump from Grade 6 to Grade 7 can be stressful.

So before the new school year rolls in, she will be offering a Prep For High School course devoted to helping ease the transition.

Throughout the five-day program, students will review mathematical concepts and grammar rules. Lessey will also provide insight on how to develop efficient note taking and strong organizational skills, along with discussing the importance of stress and time management. “Kids at this age have a lot on their plate and don’t necessarily know how to juggle everything,” she said.

This is the third year that Lessey will be offering this program, but it is the first time it will be held at the

Atwater Library. It will take place from Aug.15 to 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at 1200 Atwater Ave. It costs $350 and registration ends June 30. For more information, call 514-559-3445 or visit prepforhighschool.com.
