Private daycare opens in St. Laurent

La Petite École de Beauconou daycare has recently opened in St. Laurent. Co-director Maria Libertella says that its mission is to create a healthy environment, both emotionally and psychologically for the kids. “Many studies show that a child’s first five years set a foundation for the rest of his or her life,” she said. “The environment has a tremendous impact on the child so we want to create a place where those first years can be a positive and beneficial experience.”

Equipped with its own gymnasium, children can do daily yoga, aerobics and Zumba classes. When weather permits, children will also be able to get a daily dose of physical activity in one of their three outdoor yards. Other facilities include a library and computer room for children ages 3 and up.

All educators have a degree or certificate in education. Every day there will be at least one French and one English educator offering bilingual activities. French classes are also available.

Parents with children 3 to 18 months will have full daily access to the baby room and can breastfeed children during the day, if necessary.

The daycare runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is for those 3 months to 5 years old.

The address is 330 Ste. Croix Ave., St. Laurent (part of the Loblaws’ building).
