Camp Khaos, which stands for Kids Having an Outrageous Summer, is gearing up for the first year of its summer camp. Camp director Viki Zerdok says keeping kids active in a variety of ways is a top priority and the camp will cater to three age groups: Mini Khaos, Junior Khaos and Advanced Khaos.
Mini Khaos is for preschoolers aged 2½ to 5. It consists of a half-day (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or full day option (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). There will be sports, crafts, science, water games and creative movement and music.
Junior Khaos is for children aged 6 to 11 and includes weekly field trips, swimming lessons, sports, crafts, hip-hop/break dance lessons, and science activities.
Advanced Khaos is a counsellor-in-training program for teens aged 12 to 15. They will receive training that focuses on developing leadership, childcare, programming and animation skills.
Zerdok explains that while summer camp should be about kids letting loose, safety is always her main concern as well as making sure campers are happy. “I will get to know each child by name, build relationships with the families, and have outstanding staff members by my side,” she said.
The camp runs for eight weeks from June 29 until Aug. 21 with a bonus week Aug. 24 to the 28. Camp Khaos is located at 9665 Gouin Blvd. in Pierrefonds.
