If you’ve got rhythm in your soul or just want to hear some good music, the 14th edition of the International Percussion Festival might hit the right note.

Although the festival begins July 3 at the Marche Bonsecours, most of the family-oriented activities occur when the festival moves to the Jacques Cartier Pier at the Old Port from July 9 to 12. This portion of the festival is titled A Place for Family, and offers many activities, shows and entertainment for children of all ages.

Their family programming includes workshops on percussion, dance and the creation of instruments using recycled materials, as well as shows and activities presented by the Jean Coutu circus. There will also be bouncy castles, music, a mini-train and mini pedal boats.

The festival celebrates a different country each year, and 2015 will be a celebration of French music and culture. Visitors can learn more about it in a new French Pavilion, which will feature booths from the different regions of the country with food, music and more.

Admission is $5 for all four days, including the outdoor shows. Children under 5 get in free.
