Montreal Families

Parenting conference aims to help kids with learning disabilities

On April 26, the Montreal Centre for Learning Disabilities (MCLD), formerly known as the Learning Disabilities Association of Quebec, will be hosting a full-day conference entitled Toolbox for Success, which is geared to parents with children who have learning disabilities as well as ADHD.

The conference will feature experts in their respective fields, and will cover topics from anxiety and stress, to non-verbal learning disabilities and how to develop healthy study methods. Child psychologist Eva de Gosztonyi will discuss how to interact with children who have behavioural issues and behavioural consultant Maureen Hunt will discuss learning disabilities in a school setting.

To close the conference, a group of men and women who are living with learning disabilities and ADHD, will be speaking about their personal experiences and how they have overcome some of the obstacles in their lives.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ruby Foo’s Hotel, 7655 Decarie Blvd. Individual tickets cost $65 and $115 for couples.
