New website makes it easier to find leisure activities
A new web platform is helping Quebecers of all ages find leisure activities located near them. The Conseil québécois du loisir (CQL) launched the Goûte au loisir! site on April 12 with the aim of allowing families to discover a variety of leisure organizations near them, and to also learn about the benefits of such activities in their lives.
By visiting gouteauloisir.com, users have access to a directory of more than 3,000 leisure organizations and can discover new hobbies and interests, build relationships and socialize, develop skills, and improve their physical and mental health. The resource, a first of its kind in the province, is part of a provincial campaign to encourage Quebecers to discover the benefits of recreation and connect with the opportunities in their communities.
Thanks to a simple interface, users can search for organizations by region, or area of interest. Sections are included for art, culture and heritage; scientific and educational; tourism; and outdoor and physical activities.
Sports enthusiasts looking for instruction or camps can find Académie de Hockey Joël Bouchard or adapted sailing lessons with the Association québécoise de voile adaptée. Those searching for a variety of activities all in one location can find local community centres such as Centre Communautaire de Loisir de la Cote-des-Neiges, Centre communautaire Hochelaga, and Centre communautaire Radisson. Scouts Canada, chess and games, astronomy, movie clubs, horticulture, fine arts, theatre groups, choirs, circus schools, and resources for teens are just some of the other thousands of organizations waiting to be discovered.
While there isn’t complete information for each entry on the platform, it does link to the websites of organizations. The CQL says the platform will be continuously updated to adapt to the needs of its users.
