New park in LaSalle getting rave reviews

The new playground at Albert-Perras Park in LaSalle is attracting kids of all ages. Located at the corner of Jean-Chevalier and Perras Sts., the park recently received a complete makeover and it’s better than ever. If you’re looking to hit up a new play space this summer, add this one to the list.

What’s not to love about the cheery and imaginative hot-air balloon play structure for toddlers that will have them dreaming of soaring off on adventures. Kids aged 2 to 5 can play with the interactive and tactile elements found throughout the climber, discover hidden features (check down low and underneath), and discuss their travel plans for far-off worlds through the whimsical pinwheel talk tubes. Make sure to pay your fare before climbing aboard the balloon’s basket or you might get kicked off! If your little one doesn’t like the feel of sand, they’ll be a-ok here as the safety surfacing is made of synthetic material.

Nearby there are adult and baby swings, a “friendship” swing for two, and a three-point adaptive swing. Travel further along the park and there is more equipment suitable for older kids. Fans of action series like American Ninja Warrior and Beastmaster will enjoy the challenge of the inclined steps, overhead bars, and wobbly rungs that test balance, strength, and agility. And for those who like climbing, the large Pyramid structure has hand and footholds, ropes to cross, and a slide to come down and start all over. And for a thrill, there’s a “hold on tight” overhead spinner.

THINGS TO NOTE:
  • The playground equipment is on wood chips or synthetic surfacing. There is no fencing along the road.
  • There is some shade around the perimeter of the park.
  • There are no bathroom facilities.
  • A drinking fountain is located near the middle of the park.
  • Street parking is located around the park but check the signs carefully and make sure to not block driveways.
