New movement studio opens in T.M.R.
A new movement centre has opened in Mount-Royal and it offers activities for people of all ages. When Kim Snabl opened Studio Trybe with her husband Joffrey Bienvenue and co-worker Laurie Woodfine, her goal was to give families a chance to do something together.
Snabl ran Kidnasium, a play centre for kids in N.D.G., for more than 20 years. When her son outgrew the activities offered at Kidnasium, she came up with a plan to open a family studio. For older children who are interested in activities like yoga, it can be difficult to find classes that they can do with their parents.
“This is a place where families can connect,” she said. “I don’t have [public] wifi; we really want to make it an experience for the entire family to enjoy.”
Studio Trybe offers gymnastics, kickboxing, yoga and parkour classes for kids of all ages, as well as Pilates, ballet burn, body weight boot camp and different kinds of yoga classes. In January, it will also have prenatal yoga classes.
Parents can also sign their kids up for open gym classes and families can participate in family yoga. Kids’ classes are grouped by age, depending on the class. For example, in the parkour classes, kids are grouped from 6-8 years old, 8-10 years old, 10-13 years old, and 14-17 years old.
Studio Trybe offers different kinds of passes. It costs $20 for any one class, or $140 for 10 classes. You can also buy an unlimited one month pass for $150 or yearly pass for $1,000 if you pay upfront. The open gym classes for kids costs $12 per class or $100 for 10 classes.
Class schedules and registration is available on the Studio Trybe website, or you can download the MindBody app to look up the schedule and register for classes. The studio is at Lucerne Square Mall in Mount-Royal.
