New counselling centre opens in West End

Various workshops are being held at Sedona Counselling Centre at the end of May and in June.

Local psychotherapist and author Vikki Stark recently opened The Sedona Counselling Centre in N.D.G. that offers not only counselling services but also acupuncture, yoga and naturopathy. There are 20 therapists, many specializing in work with families, teens and children. It also has a children’s corner with games and toys.

The centre is offering a series of upcoming workshops.

On May 29, 2011, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Kelly Roughton is facilitating “Vision Boards” and will show participants how to use images to express future hopes and plans. The workshop is $55 and includes all supplies.

On June 2, 2011, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Vikki Stark will be giving a workshop entitled “How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk.” Parents will learn how to strengthen their communication skills with their children. The cost is $25.00.

On June 9, 2011, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Theresa Scott will present “The Sedona Method: Your Key to Lasting Happiness, Success, Peace and Emotional Well-Being.” Participants will learn how to let go of negative thought patterns that prevent them from enjoying their lives. The cost is $35.00 ($50.00 with purchase of a workbook).

The Sedona Centre is named after the city in Arizona famous for its red rock formations that some believe provide healing energy. The centre is located at 5708 Monkland Ave. (above the Austrian Ski Shop).
