A book club can be a fun social gathering as well as a good way to discuss interesting literary topics. But for mothers with young children, it’s not always easy to find someone to look after the kids. So, the Eleanor London Cote St. Luc Public Library has launched Mum’s the Word, a monthly book club that welcomes babies and young children.
Librarian Valérie Medzalabanleth says the book choices are made to be “both fun and deep” and explore themes of parenthood and family. Two examples are Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan and The History of Us by Leah Stewart.
Mum’s the Word takes place the first Monday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and tea are provided as well as toys and colouring activities for children.
The club is free but registration is required; call (514) 485-6900, ext. 4111.
