For teens looking to improve their skills on the court and shoot some hoops this summer, a new basketball camp will be available for boys and girls 10 to 16.
The West Island Basketball Camp, designed for players of all levels, will be offered for four consecutive weeks, starting July 13 and ending Aug. 7.
Mali Tinay, who is running the camp, played professional basketball in Europe and has 23 years experience teaching physical education. “When you play basketball, you have to think quickly whether you’re going to pass, shoot or penetrate, it’s very exciting,” Tinay says. “I believe basketball not only improves a kid’s skills athletically, but also mentally; you are part of a team so you have to share the ball and have a relationship with other players.”
Each day will start with conditioning and a snack, followed by learning fundamentals and skills. Campers will then break for lunch before returning to the court for more training and a game. You can enrol for one to four weeks, consecutive or not.
The cost per week is $175. The camp is located on 570 Morgan Blvd., Baie D’Urfe.
