The Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire has opened a new birthing centre to better accommodate new mothers and their families. It has 10 new rooms that are nearly twice the size of the previous rooms, each with a window, a private bathroom and shower. The post-partum wing features 15 newly renovated private recovery rooms, as well.
Nearby, there is a private room with a whirlpool tub for mothers to relax in during labour. The centre also has a nursing station at the front, and a new room that can accommodate two ultrasound units.
This facility will be able to accommodate more than 2,000 new babies a year. It was funded through a $1.2 million donation from the Eric T. Webster foundation and $900, 000 from the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation.
