Mountain adventure park opens in the Laurentians

A new mountain adventure park in Ste. Agathe des Monts boasts one of the longest series of connecting zip lines in Canada.

At Tyroparc, visitors can expect to be propelled from atop a mountain on a wire 100 metres high across 2.5 kilometres of forest. Furthermore, the horseshoe shape of Mount Catherine allows zip lines to be installed from cliff to cliff.

Families can also enjoy the park’s three kilometres of scenic trails, which cut through Maple forests, or opt for the more ambitious Via Ferrata, a vertical trail that straddles Mount Catherine’s rock face and involves cables and ladders. The trail is an intermediary between hiking and climbing and is recommended for children 8 and older. However, younger children can enjoy a multi-activity wall, about nine metres high and 61 metres wide that allows kids to practice hiking, climbing and repelling.

“Tyroparc lets you experience the mountain, its six peaks, and the beauty of its wildlife.” says Stéphane Neault, one of the park’s three founders.

Children must be at least 5 years old and 50 lbs. to access the zip lines, and those under 100 lbs. must zip with another person.

The park is open year-round and reservations are recommended.
