Mount Royal becomes a wonderland filled with fun activities during the winter. When the snow and ice does arrive, visitors can skate skating on Beaver Lake, which is transformed into a 2,500 square-metre rink, with on-site skate rentals.
The mountain also boasts 22-kilometre cross-country ski trails (and program specifically aimed at getting children into the sport), a three-kilometre snowshoe trail and planning excursions, and an 8.3-kilometre walking trail, sledding and tubing and even bird watching. Les amis de la montagne, a non-profit community organization, also offers a March Break day camp. There is something for people of all ages and levels of fitness.
