Montreal’s new Planetarium

Get ready for a new fresh perspective of the stars and universe as the Planetarium reopens in its new location on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

After almost two years of construction, the new Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium is back with an eco-friendly building, new exhibits and theater presentations.

One of the main attractions will be two new theatres featuring multimedia shows: one will give you a creative and artistic view of the cosmos, where the audience sits on beanbags; the second show brings the audience a different experience as they learn about the constellations and different elements of the universe with the help of a scientific interpreter.

There will also be a new exhibit titled, Exo: Our search for Life in the Universe, on scientific exploration, which will be updated regularly as new discoveries are made. It will answer questions like: How did life appear on earth? Is there life elsewhere? A meteor collection will also be on display in the geology laboratory and kids can take a walk on the green roof, as well.

Shows are recommended for children ages 7 and up. The cost for kids is $7.50 and $15 for adults.

The Planetarium is now located next to the Biodome, Insectarium and Botanical Gardens at 4801 Pierre De Courbertin St., Montreal.
