Making a decision about where to send your child to school can be quite complicated these days, especially in the province of Quebec where there are so many options – public, private, English, French, alternative, international, etc.
It’s understandable if parents feel a little lost trying to sift through the options and pick out the schools and services that suit their children’s needs and family values.
We hope we can make this decision a little easier for parents; for 14 years, Montreal Families has been hosting an annual Education Fair, bringing representatives from private and public elementary and high schools as well as tutoring and learning centres under the same roof. (Although our fair is held in Pointe-Claire, schools and organizations from all over the island will be represented).
The West Island-based Lester B. Pearson School Board and the English Montreal School Board will be at the fair again this year and will be showcasing their public schools, specialty streams and international programs.
There will be more than 40 booths representing more than 100 public and private schools, tutoring centres and other education-based programs from around Montreal. Some of the schools and companies exhibiting cater to kids with special needs.
The Lester B. Pearson Continuing Education representatives will be giving out information about several career-training programs, including nursing, cooking, esthetics, starting a business, mechanics, accounting and much more.
Companies that offer extracurricular activities will be on hand to talk about programs such as cinema- and film-making, music classes, reading skills, travel excursions, volunteer opportunities to help kids with special needs etc.
Make sure to bring the kids along; we will have animation on site.
