Montréal en Lumière lights up the season
Whether you enjoy the sparkle of lights, spending time outdoors with friends, or delight in mesmerizing shows, families are likely to find something to enjoy at the 24th annual Montréal en Lumière festival. Held from February 16 to March 5, 2023, the event at Quartier des spectacles invites visitors to enjoy countless winter activities, both indoors and out.
This year’s theme is Discover the best of Montreal in winter! and festival-goers will certainly have a chance to soak in the best of the season. Once again this year, there will be skating on the impressive Ice Skating Loop high above Place des Festivals, light installations, interactive outdoor games, a huge Ferris wheel, and tons of free activities during spring break. It is also the 20th anniversary of Nuit blanche, with multiple shows happening in venues throughout the Quartier des spectacles.
Families wishing to play tourists at home can opt for a special downtown getaway with the Spring Break Family Package. For the first time ever, the festival will offer an exclusive package at the Monville and Double Tree hotels during spring break that includes a family hotel stay, breakfasts, and tickets to the 50-minute show Coucou Passe-Partout, le spectacle on February 28 at 3 p.m.
For the grown-ups, there will be special gourmet events, unique menus, and gastronomy packages. Over the course of two weekends (February 18-19, and 25-26, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.), the Quartier Gourmand in the hall of Place des Arts will offer over 20 free activities, including conferences, tastings, and culinary demonstrations and workshops. Workshops include sessions on Asian vegetables, chocolate and pastries, Indigenous cuisine, and sustainable foods.
Complete programming information for the outdoor site and Nuit Blanche activities will be released in February 2022.
