Mont Sutton hosts festival chock-full of activities

As the balmy days of summer gradually give way to the crisp air of autumn, nature unveils its most captivating hues, transforming landscapes into vibrant tapestries of red, orange, and gold. Amidst this symphony of colours, Mont Sutton in the Eastern Townships emerges as a destination for those seeking to immerse themselves in the fall season.

Every weekend from Sept. 16 to Oct. 15, Mont Sutton invites visitors to partake in a festival that celebrates the beauty of fall. Whether one is an outdoor enthusiast, a family looking to create lasting memories, or a thrill-seeker in search of exhilarating experiences, this event promises a medley of activities to suit every taste.

Outdoor fun for the whole family

Some of the free activities include a mini obstacle course for children; slacklining (which is like tightrope walking) as well as outdoor concerts.

Among the diverse options, adventure lovers can satiate their cravings by hurtling through the air on the giant zipline. Reservations are recommended. Check out the website for height and weight requirements and about what to wear.

There is also a zipline coaster for those ages 9 and up. Imagine a roller coaster mixed with a zipline going between trees. There are a series of turns, drops, loops up to 450 degrees, all on a 655 meters long descent through the forest.

Families can take part in a hiking tour of the mountain where they can meet outdoor sculptures such as the bear, owl, porcupine, tree frog and eagle. The tour starts at 1:30 p.m. Make sure to bring shoes suitable for all weather, as the tour includes a route through the ski slopes, which can be wet and muddy.

For those yearning to take in the splendour of fall at a more leisurely pace, chairlift rides offer a serene vantage point from which to soak in the kaleidoscope of colours below. Hiking and mountain biking trails will likely satisfy the explorer’s heart and disc golf enthusiasts can test their precision.

Dazzling display of autumn colours

Undoubtedly, the pièce de résistance of this autumn festival is the opportunity to enjoy the vistas from the summit. While visitors bask in the fall splendour, Mont Sutton encourages them to capture their moments through the lens and share their #PurementSUTTON photos on social media. These snapshots serve as personal mementos and offer participants a chance to vie for recognition in the weekly photo contest.

Mont Sutton is approximately 75 minutes from Montreal. For more information, visit montsutton.com/en/activity/fall-fest.
