Place des Arts will come alive with The Sound of Music later this month, when the Salzburg Marionette Theater brings its version of the classic musical to the stage. Founded in 1913 in Salzburg, Austria and one of the city’s proudest traditions, this theatre group travels all over the world presenting its shows. The last time they came to Montreal was more than 60 years ago.

The company’s marionettes are very lifelike, right down to the costumes, giving the audience the impression they’re watching real people. Families can sing along to the show’s timeless tunes, from Do Re Mi to My Favourite Things and Climb Every Mountain.
