Laval hosts festival with a myriad of activities

The Fête de la Famille, offering entertainment for kids of all ages with free concerts and activities, returns to Laval’s Nature Centre on Sept. 2. The opening performance will be a sing-along show with Caillou and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. followed by a 45-minute meet and greet.

Other shows include musical group Les Petites Tounes and children’s rock musician Atchoum. The day’s final show will be a circus and comedy performance that mixes music, magic, dancing and circus stunts.

The Laval Scientastique workshop offers interactive experiments and scientific activities and the  Nature Centre’s Environmental Stop will offer guided tours of  urban beehives, green roofs, and insect hotels.

For those seeking more active entertainment, there will be a zip line for ages 4 and up, a surf simulator for ages 8 and up, an obstacle course for kids 42 inches and up, and inflatables. The nearby St. Vincent pool will also be open.

The festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance is free, as well as all activities and concerts. Food will be available to purchase on site, but families can bring their own lunch. A breastfeeding tent with microwaves and changing tables will also be available to parents.
