Kids’coolest job is up for grabs
It’s the stuff dreams are made of. One Canadian child will be chosen to be the Chief Play Officer (CPO) for Toys “R” Us. This lucky kid will test and review all the hottest gadgets and games, then travel across the country to talk to the media about why he or she likes them.
The company’s current CPO, Alex Thorne, is retiring at the ripe old age of 14. In December, he will be passing the torch on to his successor who will participate in toy-training sessions, test out new toys, make videos about the latest toy trends and be a company spokesperson.
Applicants must be between 11 and 13, an enthusiastic lover of toys and games, well spoken, and comfortable on camera. Kids can apply by submitting a short video explaining why they are the right kid for the job. Applicants should talk about their passion for toys, and highlight some of their favourite things to play with. All videos will be evaluated based on their originality, creativity, and enthusiasm. Finalists will then audition in front of a panel of judges before the CPO is chosen and awarded a one-year contract. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. Oct. 4.
