Kids invited to get dirty at muddy obstacle course
For the past several years, Mud Hero has been offering adults of all fitness levels a chance to test their endurance and strength, and raise their adrenaline levels on a muddy course with at least 16 obstacles that span six kilometres.
And for the first time this year, kids are invited to participate in a 500-metre course with six smaller-sized obstacles. “Kids and mud are a natural combination,” said event spokesperson Marissa Schroder. “We love the idea of getting kids involved with fitness in a fun, non-intimidating way but that still challenges them.”
The event is open to children from 4 to 13. The obstacle course is meant to be challenging and competitive but the main goal is participation. Kids and adults will be rewarded with a free T-shirt and medal in recognition of their efforts.
Mud Hero will take place at Mont St. Bruno on the South Shore, in front of the chalet, on June 20 and 21. The kids’ races are divided by age group and begin at 10 a.m. Adult races begin at 9:30 a.m., with a new one starting every half-hour. Families should consider scheduling their races at different times so kids can watch their parents and vice-versa.
Registration for kids is $15 in advance, online until June 16 and $25 on-site, on the event day. Adult registration is $72 until June 9 and $77 until June 16. On-site registration is not available for adults. For more information, visit mudhero.com.
