Jewish high school moving to new location

The new facility is set to open during the 2017-2018 academic school year

Due to a $15 million donation from the Azrieli Foundation, students at Herzliah High School will be moving into a brand new building in Cote des Neiges in the 2017-2018 academic year. The donation will be used to construct a building next to the YM-YWHA Jewish Community Centre.

The 100,000 square-foot facility will house classrooms, four science and technology labs, conference rooms, a cafeteria, a landscaped rooftop terrace, gymnasium, library, multimedia centre, art workshop and a central atrium for assemblies. A bridge will also be built connecting the school with the community centre.

The donation will also fund new academic initiatives. “It’s critical to not simply invest in a magnificent building, but also enhance our educational programs,” says Ellie Grumberg, associate head of school of United Talmud Torah.

Along with the relocation, Herzliah High School and United Talmud Torah Elementary School (formerly known as the United Talmud Torahs) will now be known collectively as Les écoles Azrieli schools, but will still keep their respective names. For more information, visit utt.qc.ca.
