Jazz up music skills with computers

Jongleur, a vocal arts music school in N.D.G., is adding a new component to its voice training programs: an interactive, computer-based program called MusIQ that builds keyboard and music theory skills.

As part of the MusIQ Club, children ages 10 and up spend an hour a week working on a keyboard hooked to a computer to help with note recognition, sight-reading and composition. The program features bright, engaging graphics and allows participants to move at their own pace. It is being offered as part of a package that includes a weekly voice lesson.

Cost for MusIQ is $150 for 10 weeks, paired with private voice lessons at $40 per week, or class voice lessons at $30 per week for a total of $550 or $450.

Jongleur is located at the Crowley Arts Centre, 5325 Crowley, Montreal. For more information, call (514) 656-5672 ext. 207 or visit www.jongleur.bandzoogle.com.
