Hard-to-find brands at Laval clothing store

Six months ago, Laval’s Vimont district became home to a new kids’ clothing store called mimiRebelle. Owner Claudia Pisanelli says she has already gotten to know many of her customers so well that she routinely texts them when new shipments arrive and knows what many of their kids like.

Pisanelli said she wants to become the go-to store for all kids’ sartorial needs, from newborns to 16-year-olds. One of the ways she plans on doing this is by being the only store in Quebec to carry clothing brands like Nununu, Rowdy Sprout, Monster Republic, Warrior Poet and Funky Legs.

When she became a mom, Pisanelli says she noticed kids’ clothing was missing a certain “cool” factor.  “I wanted something I would actually buy that I could put on my kids — a mini version (of me),” she said. “My kids inspired me to do this.”

After 20 years as a buyer for companies like La Senza, Dynamite and Garage, her familiarity with the industry was the springboard she needed to start her own company.

Pisanelli says she hopes that her merchandise will be unique and trendy; T-shirts with band names, fun graphics, and cheeky quotes, tutus, faux snakeskin leggings and acid-wash jeans.

The boutique is located at 1674-A des Laurentides Blvd.
