Does your child enjoy building stuff? If so, you might want go to the first ever Montreal Mini Maker Faire taking place on August 25 and 26, 2012 at the Olympic stadium.

At this event, more than 30 exhibitors will be showcasing their creations, from Star Wars-like droids and singing robot birds to a Lego Wall-E robot and a light suit. There will also be less technology-heavy projects like a pinhole camera and paper airplanes. According to event organizer Dannielle Dyson, “maker” culture is a niche of people who do things themselves, work with their hands, and create new things from old stuff.

The fair makes science, technology and engineering accessible to everyone. Visitors will be encouraged to learn from exhibitors, ask questions, be inspired by various workshops enjoy many interactive games. Dyson is hoping that the fair will be a regular event in Montreal, and that a community will be built to inspire young and old to get together, share resources, and learn how to build things throughout the year.

The fair is open to kids of all ages; admission is $6 at the door or $10 online (because of service fees). It is free for kids under the age of 10 who accompanied by an adult.
