Great tennis and family fun served up at the Rogers Cup
The Rogers Cup is bringing the top names in tennis back to Montreal this year, and alongside the sports action, spectators can expect to find a slew of family-friendly activities during the tournament’s opening weekend.
From Aug. 7 to 9, families are invited to come out the Uniprix Stadium in Jarry Park to watch the world’s best male tennis players (the women’s tourney is simultaneously being held in Toronto) such as Canada’s own Milos Raonic, while indulging in some free fun.
Activities include child celebrity tennis matches, in which recognizable personalities from different kids’ TV shows will duke it on the court for your entertainment. There will also be face painting, inflatable bouncy castles, ball hockey matches, dance lessons, and mini tennis, where kids can play on a pint-sized court with equipment tailored to them while receiving coaching tips from animators who will be on hand all weekend.
The first 500 people to show up at the stadium will receive a backpack containing some surprise treats, one of which will be a coupon that automatically enters you into a draw to win four lodge tickets for the following Monday’s match.
During the weekend kids may also get the chance to mingle with their favourite tennis stars at autograph sessions.
Activities start at 9 a.m. and run until about 5 p.m. on all three days.
