Great Cloth Diaper Change tries to beat record

The third annual Great Cloth Diaper Change, in which people around the world will simultaneously change their babies’ cloth diapers, will be held this year at exactly 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

The Montreal host for the event will be Boutique Bummis, 4302 St. Laurent Blvd., corner Marie Anne.

The group is trying to make it into the Guiness Book of World Records, and top last year’s total of 8,251 simultaneous changes in almost 200 locations around the world. But the underlying message of the event is to promote the use of cloth diapers instead of disposable.

Parents who have used, cloth diapers in good condition that they no longer need are asked to bring them in. They will be sent to Cloth for a Cause, an organization that reconditions diapers and donates them to needy families.

Last year 93 parent-child teams took part in the Montreal event, and this year organizers say they are expecting 120.
