Geronimo Stilton adventure comes to the stage

Geronimo Stilton, the fabumouse editor of Mouse Island’s The Rodent Gazette, adventurer and hero of dozens of books for young readers will premiere in his own Montreal-produced show Dec. 26, 2012 to Jan. 5, 2013 at the Monument National theatre.

Geronimo Stilton dans le Royaume de la Fantaisie, will be in French, and feature Geronimo as he tries to save the queen of the fairies. He’ll have to enter seven different doors that will transport him from kingdom to kingdom, and along the way he’ll meet witches, mermaids, a dragon and fairies.

The live-action, home-grown production features a cast of seven, and producer Guy Gervais said the mouse masks for Geronimo and his rodent friends have been created by the same team that works for the Cirque du Soleil.

Gervais said he plans to take the show on tour later to Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. An English-language translation is in the works, he said, and might be ready for a Montreal run next year.

Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each day from Wednesday, Dec. 26 to Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Monument National, 1182 St. Laurent Blvd. in Montreal.

Tickets cost $43.40 to $72.15 and are available at the box office, by calling (514) 871-2224 or 1-866-844-2172 or you can purchase them online.
