Montreal Families

Fundraiser helps kids with special needs

Raise funds for a good cause and enjoy a day full of family-friendly fun at the tenth annual Walk4Friendship event on Oct. 14.

This year’s fundraiser will kick off at 11 a.m. at the Old Port in Montreal. Families are invited to participate in a two- or five-kilometre walk, which will raise money for Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization that offers friendship and activities to children, teens and young adults with special needs.

Last year, Walk4Friendship raised more than $500,000 and the objective is to surpass that amount in 2018.

After the walk, families can enjoy complimentary food and drink, as well as face-painting, airbrush tattoos, caricature artists, a petting zoo, virtual reality games, axe-throwing (for adults only), circus acts and more. Families who raise at least $100 will be able to ride the La Grande Roue ferris wheel and the MTLzipline for free after the festivities.

Friendship Circle pairs youngsters with high-school and college-level volunteers who participate in activities such as karate, yoga, dance, cooking and more. They also organize sibling and family bonding activities, as well as spa days and retreats for parents of children with special needs.
