French school adopts soccer program

The West Island Soccer School is teaming up with École Secondaire Chene-Bleu in Pincourt to kick start a new soccer/study program in September. The French-language high school already offers sports concentration programs in other areas, including basketball and golf. The new program will have a modified academic program starting at 8 a.m., followed by an afternoon of soccer.

“It’s the first time we’re going to work with groups of players over the course of the school year,” said Danny Anderson, owner of the West Island Soccer School. “We’re hoping to see major progress in the development of players.”

Players in the triple A competitive group already have many opportunities to play and develop, Anderson said, and the new program is geared to players in the double A and single A leagues who would be able to move up with a little more coaching and practice.

There are places available in each grade level. Registration is currently taking place.
