Montreal Families

Free seminar on helping teens deal with Alzheimer’s

Coping with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis can just as be difficult for the children and teenagers of a family as it is for the adults. The Montreal Alzheimer’s Society is giving a free seminar via teleconference to help parents help their kids deal with the impact of the disease.

During the seminar, Teresa Anuza, the society’s coordinator of educational services, will address how to explain the disease to young people in simple terms. Anuza says children and teens may be grappling with fears their parents or even they may be diagnosed with the disease. They may feel resentment not know how to deal with it, and she will talk about how to handle with those concerns during the presentation. There will also be tips on how to get young people involved with the caregiving tasks and resources families can consult.

The teleconference is March 31 at 12 p.m. A code will be provided for participants to dial into the teleconference.
